a requirement that our students have a Class 1 Medical certificate before they start studying at one of our bases.<\/p><p>A Class 1 Medical is a certificate that proves that you are physically and mentally fit to become a pilot at an airline. There are many false rumors about the health requirements to become a pilot. The requirements are by no means strict, but there are certain conditions and diseases that do not correspond with becoming a pilot:<\/p><ul><li>Red\/green color blindness (although, in some cases it is possible)<\/li><li>Epilepsy<\/li><li>Double vision<\/li><li>Certain eyesight problems<\/li><li>Permanent dependency on certain types of medicine<\/li><li>Diabetes<\/li><\/ul><p>The absolute vast majority of young people pass the test with flying colors. Taking the Class 1 Medical test should not hold you back. Please note that the test must be performed by an Aeronautical Medical Center (AMC). The test can be conducted in any EASA country. However, please note that the costs vary a lot from AMC to AMC, as do the AMCs\u2019 waiting lists and the processing times of the Class 1 Medical certificate.<\/p><p>Please do not hesitate to contact GreyBird Pilot Academy if you need help. Simply book an appointment with an aeromedical center.<\/p><p>Before starting the education, all students must have a Class 1 Medical. The examination takes about 4 hours. During the examination, you go through various tests: a vision test, hearing test, breath test, etc. In addition, a urine and blood sample must be given. Up until the test, it is important that you are well-rested. This can be done up to 45 days before the expiration date, thereby extending the validity of your medical certificate by 12 months from the original expiration date. If you renew your medical more than 45 days before the expiration date, the validity of your medical certificate will be extended by 12 months from the renewal date. You can renew your medical with an aviation medical examiner. You can find a list of Danish aviation medical examiners\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.en.trafikstyrelsen.dk\/civil-aviation\/aeromedical\/find-an-ame\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>. Note that an aviation medical examiner cannot issue an initial medical certificate but can only renew an existing one. To obtain a new medical certificate, you must visit an Aero medical center. You can contact GreyBird Pilot Academy for guidance on where these are located and where the waiting times are shortest.<\/p><p>It should be noted that the cost is not the same as for an initial issuance. Typically, renewal costs about DKK 1750. Note that your medical must be renewed twice during training.
